According to a report made by Twitter leaker Dohyun Kim(opens in new tab), the regular iPhone 14 is anticipated to remain at $799. And it's predicted that the next iPhone 14 Max will cost $899.

Thanks to renderings published by leaker Jon Prosser, we've been getting signs of a design shift for the iPhone 14 since last year, shortly before the iPhone 13 launch.

But based on the information available so far, it appears that the iPhone 14 will resemble its predecessor in many ways, while the iPhone 14 Pro models will keep the flat edge design but do away with the display notch in favor of two cutouts: one is expected to be circular for the front-facing camera and the other will be shaped like a pill for the Face ID sensors.

With what appears to be a supply chain leak photo displaying the display panels for each of the four iPhone 14 versions, these claims gained more credibility.

According to a recent patent application by Apple, the iPhone 14 Pro could feature a no-notch display. 

And indeed, that implies that none of the iPhone 14 versions are anticipated to enable Touch ID. That won't hurt as much as we had anticipated because with iOS 15.4, Apple improved Face ID's ability to identify a genuine person even when they are wearing a mask.

Apple may have avoided the necessity for fingerprint-centric biometrics because it functions extremely well.

It doesn't appear likely that the standard iPhone 14 will get a set of cameras flush with its rear panel given some schematics that depict the iPhone 14 Pro models with a raised camera array being even bigger on the iPhone 14 Pro and Ming-Chi Kuo's claim that a larger module is needed to house a 48MP camera. 

A more recent tip seems to display allegedly leaked images of the iPhone 14 Pro, potentially verifying many of the previously circulated design rumors.

Additionally, we see a look of the upcoming iPhones' probable color schemes. 

The normal iPhone 14 is expected to be followed by the iPhone 14 Max, while the Pro versions appear to provide the most intriguing design. In order to give users a larger iPhone without making them shell out a lot of money for the iPhone 14 Pro Max, this model is anticipated to have a larger 6.7-inch display. However, not everyone is convinced that this is a smart idea; in fact, one Tom's Guide writer hopes Apple would keep the iPhone small rather than replace it with the iPhone 14 Max. 

One persistent rumor is that the iPhone 14 will support USB-C connectivity.

There isn't a lot of information available on this, but it appears that the iPhone 14 range will likely continue to use the Lightning port. A USB-C iPhone won't be released until late 2023, probably with the iPhone 15.

Given that Apple has included USB-C connectivity into many of its other products, we'd want to see this happen as soon as possible.

The Cupertino staff may nevertheless favor wireless MagSafe charging for the upcoming iPhone generation in the case of the iPhone 14 over cable charging. 

iPhone 14 colors

According to one source, the standard Midnight, Starlight, and Product RED color selections will still be available, but a lighter sky blue will replace the present blue.

Regarding the iPhone 14 Pro, a Chinese leaker said that this year's new color option would be dark purple in addition to the traditional Graphite, Silver, and Gold Pro iPhone colors. 

We just received another glimpse at the purple color as well as a new blue tint that is noticeably darker than previous blue hues used in past iPhones, according to a new leak that purportedly showed real-life photographs of an iPhone 14 Pro, or at least a fake version of it. 

Meanwhile, eight different hues are displayed on leaked iPhone 14 cases.

Given that case manufacturers prefer their designs to match phones, even though these leaks don't include official cases, the colors could offer an extra hint as to the route Apple will go with the iPhone 14. 

iPhone 14 display

A reorganization of the iPhone 14 lineup is anticipated; according Apple reports, the basic iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will have 6.1-inch displays, while the iPhone 14 Max/Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max may have 6.7-inch displays. So the 5.4-inch mini is obsolete.

According to a Shadow Leaks report, the iPhone 14 will have a 6.08-inch (rounded to 6.1-inch) screen, while the iPhone 14 Max would have a 6.68-inch screen (rounded up to 6.7 inches). The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max also have that. The Pro models, however, may be getting a little bit bigger (to 6.12 inches and 6.69 inches, respectively), maybe due to redesigned bezels. 

Given that the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max feature displays with 120Hz refresh rates, it would be amazing to see all iPhone 14 models have screens with similar refresh rates. These screens would probably be made with LTPO panels or a development of those panels that could scale down to 1Hz.

The iPhone 14 Pro is expected to have an always-on display thanks to this utilization of panel technology. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the iPhone 14 Pro will finally get the always-on display that has been long rumored to be coming to the next generation of iPhones. This display will be used to display "weather, calendars, stocks, activities, and other data" on the lock screen while maintaining a low refresh rate to conserve battery life. 

A series of concept pictures by graphic artist AR7 (opens in new tab) illustrate what the iPhone 14 Pro would look like with an always-on display. Their designs, which are based in part on hardware-related rumors for the phone and data from the iOS 16 beta, are, at least in our opinion, quite attractive. 

At least one iPhone 14 model will reportedly include an LTPS display, according to a report from The Elec(opens in new tab). This suggests that a 60Hz panel may continue to be used.

The assumption that the regular iPhone 14 might not have a fast-refreshing display has only been confirmed by subsequent supply chain reports.

Although it's not quite the fast 120Hz refresh rate we'd like to see, a 90Hz refresh rate display for the regular iPhone 14 models would be a significant increase over a 60Hz panel.

This sad rumor about the specs is supported by another tip. 

iPhone 14 cameras  

According to recent speculations, the normal iPhone 14 won't receive a significant camera improvement; instead, a typical Apple insider claims non-Pro versions will retain their 12MP cameras.

However, if this is the case, we may anticipate Apple to have made software improvements to the next-generation iPhone's photographic capabilities as well as adding more camera-focused features to iOS 16.

All varieties of the iPhone 14 are rumored to receive an enhanced front-facing camera, claims Apple expert Ming-Chi Kuo. 

But the largest camera improvements are likely to come with the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.

A 48-megapixel main camera has been tipped, which may produce photographs with greater resolution and better light management overall. This would indicate that for Apple, megapixels are once again important. 

However, according to the most recent report, the iPhone 14 Pro may experience a camera degradation unexpectedly, at least under some lighting circumstances. Who claims to have spoken to a source who has tried the iPhone 14 Pro, there is "a fair amount of noise" in low light. But we'd take this one with a huge grain of salt because we don't see Apple updating a camera and not making it better in every way.

iPhone 14 specs, battery life and charging

The iPhone 14 is rumored to retain the A15 Bionic chip, but the iPhone 14 Pro models are anticipated to receive a new A16 chip (something the iPhone 15 series may also do too). This chip speculation has gained support from Ming Chi-Kuo, who also stated that Apple intends to ship more iPhone 14 Pro variants than regular iPhone 14 models.

If you're curious about how much additional power the A16 might provide, several benchmarks that have leaked may be able to provide some insight. However, we contend that because the A15 Bionic is so potent, having it in the iPhone 14 won't be a problem. And simply because they don't have a silicon upgrade, you should disregard the basic iPhone 14 models.

According to the current speculations, all four iPhone 14 models will contain 6GB RAM, an increase from the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini's 4GB. The Pro versions, on the other hand, are said to have quicker and more efficient LPDDR5 RAM, while the base models reportedly employ LPDDR4X RAM like the current iPhone 13 range.

We anticipate Apple will maintain the storage options it now offers for the iPhone 13 range, which start at 128GB and go all the way up to 1TB for the Pro models. 

The iPhone 14 might possibly come in an eSIM-only version, according to GlobalDate analyst Emma Mohr-McClune. The change would increase the appeal of the iPhone among consumers who require dual SIM functionality, such as business users and international tourists.

According to a Weibo source who claims to be familiar with the iPhone 14 family's battery capacities, all models—aside from the iPhone 14 Pro Max—will see a minor rise in size. There is some shrinkage of the 14 Pro Max, but hopefully not enough to affect the battery life of the device as a whole. 

 

Following Apple's acquisition of Intel's modem business, it's feasible that the iPhone 14 may come equipped with an Apple-made 5G modem for connectivity. Although it might only be introduced with the iPhone 15 next year, this would presumably allow Apple better control over both the 5G performance and battery life implications.

While we're talking about connectivity, an older iPhone 13 rumor has come back to life, claiming that the device would be able to connect to satellite networks, allowing users to text emergency services when cellular networks are unavailable. The iPhone 13 was not equipped with that capability, although current rumors suggest that the iPhone 14 models may include satellite connectivity. Apple is working to improve the phones' emergency functions.

Another new rumor suggests that the iPhone 14 will have satellite connectivity. Tim Farrar, a consultant in satellite communications, thinks that T-Mobile and SpaceX's most recent statement preempts satellite communication on the iPhone 14.

iPhone 14 Max to replace iPhone 14 mini

The iPhone mini appears to be on its way out as virtually every rumor suggests that a larger, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max/Plus will take its place.

Due to people's apparent preference for the larger-screened phones, Apple's iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini were not instant hits.

While the iPhone 14 Pro models are about to receive enhancements that will make headlines, we believe it would be incorrect to disregard the iPhone 14 Max. The iPhone 14 Max may be the most exciting Apple phone of the year and the phone to beat come the fall because it offers a larger screen without a hefty price tag, which could be exactly what iPhone lovers are looking for.

Ross Young, a display analyst, asserts that the iPhone 14 Max will be the phone Apple manufactures in the fewest numbers, according to display shipment data. This suggests that Cupertino may decide to test the market to determine whether or not a non-Pro iPhone with a huge screen is actually what customers desire.

The iPhone 14 Max may make its debut under a new moniker, so be mindful of that. Apple's 6.7-inch entry-level phone, according to leaker Lanzuk, will be called the iPhone 14 Plus. iPhone 14 outlook

Prior to the September 7 Apple event, we are still dealing with rumors and purported leaks, but we already have a very decent notion of what to anticipate from the iPhone 14 range.
